BOOK ONE OF THE EKTEK TRILOGY – LAST CHANCE TO EAT

see links below

Cover of Last Chance to Eat

Both frog and palm cockatoo watched the crocs sunning themselves on the mud bank as the river trundled along in its muddy way. They both knew that even though the crocs appeared to be asleep, they could wake at the blink of a little frog’s eye or the flick of a little palm cockatoo feather and, quick as a flash, have their little legs off.

If they were going to let us go, then why don’t they? Are they going to knock us off, or are we going free? They’d get a decent feed out of you, at least.

—Shut up, Bash.

—Seriously. We’ve got a chance. We must do. I reckon we should …

—Hullo? Do you hear that?

It appeared the crocodiles had. They came to life, twisting and turning over one another to face the opposite bank. There was noise approaching. More than mere noise, it was vibration, almost thundering, through the ground. There was smell, too, of farmyard and ordure and there, in the air, was a melodic kind of low horn or hooting. Mooing.

Bash jumped up onto Crawf’s lap, or where he would have had a lap if a palm cockatoo had one, and said—Is it an earthquake?

BOOK TWO OF THE EKTEK TRILOGY – OUT OF SPITE OUT OF MIND

see links below

Cover of Out of sight out of mind

Why hullo there, said the croc—Who have we here? Oh, how rude I am. I’m forgetting myself. Let me introduce myself. I’m Shining Teeth. And you are?

Hod bit back his first retort, something impudent about smiling at a crocodile, and shook himself into some semblance of politeness. What were the chances he’d heard about this crocodile before? Reasonably good, it seemed, because he had. He’d heard a lot about Shining Teeth. None of it was nice.

He wanted to be careful here; very, very careful. And, come to think of it, he wouldn’t even smile. Not at this particular crocodile.

BOOK THREE OF THE EKTEK TRILOGY – KILL THE PANDAS

see links below

Cover for Kill the pandas

Hey! Fuzz Face! Psycho Killer! Shining Teeth had followed them and, still snickering like some drug-crazed human pervert, said—I’ll see ya back at the zoo! I need some down time – away from you stupid Ektek freaks! She let out a guffaw and she slid away down a drain next to the gutter with a cheerful flick of her reptile tail.
